Venues can choose to waive (absorb) the credit card processing fee when creating a payment link or charging a card manually.
This gives you the flexibility to cover the fee on behalf of your guest instead of passing it on.
What It Means to Waive Credit Card Fees
By default, guests are charged a 3.5% credit card processing fee when paying by credit card. If you choose to waive this fee, the guest will not be charged it—your venue absorbs the cost.
Your venue will not be charged 3.5% -- the cost your venue absorbs is dependent on the card type. Below are the rates per card type:
Visa, Mastercard, Discover: 2.7%
American Express: 3.7%
When you waive the fee:
The guest total excludes the credit card fee.
Your payout from DineWise automatically reflects the adjusted waived fee rate.
The standard 0.6% DineWise platform fee is not charged on these transactions.
How to Waive the Credit Card Fee
You can waive the credit card fee when creating a paylink or manually charging a card.
To waive the fee:
When generating a paylink
Check the box labeled “Waive credit card processing fee.”
You'll see a message informing that your venue will absorb the fee on behalf of the client.
Complete the payment as usual.
When the checkbox is selected:
The guest’s total will not include the credit card fee.
Guest and venue confirmation emails will show the correct total with no fees.
Your venue's payout will reflect the payout amount after deducting the waived fee rate per card type.
How waiving fees affects your venue's payout
When your venue absorbs the credit card fee:
Payouts automatically adjust using the waived fee rate (2.7% or 3.7%, depending on card type).
The 0.6% DineWise platform fee is not charged on these transactions.
The Payouts section of the Payments page in the Venue Portal will display the accurate waived fee rate and net amount after fees.
